PALPA -  A general strike called to protest against the proposal to split the proposed Province No 5 has been withdrawn from today.

The strike had led to a halt in transportation and closure of educational institutes and shops.

The local struggle committee took the decision to withdraw the general strike on Saturday.

Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), CPN (ML), RPP and Janamorcha among other political parties and Palpa Chamber of Commerce and Industry took the decision to organize the strike after the government proposed to split Palpa district from Tarai and merge it with Province no 4.
